It felt a little personal when I post about organized labor being a way for us, the people of the U.S. who would like to continue living in something resembling a liberal democracy, to take back control of our political parties and country, only to see the very next day the leader of the Teamsters speaking at the Republican National Convention. WTF? As one commentor said on NPR, if there were any Teamsters members thinking about pulling a lever for Trump, Sean O’Brien’s appearance at the RNC convention just gave those members a green light.
The power of organized labor is in everyone working together, but instead, a major union has decided to hedge its bets and grovel for the scraps that *might* fall from the disaster that would be a Trump presidency. Smh.
